It’s that time again!! Halloween!!
And all I can think of is OUCH!! Dental Decay! Caries! Pain!
But there is light at the end of this tunnel.. BRUSH and FLOSS to help prevent dental decay.
Few tips for everyone….
- Do not let your kids eat all those treats in one shot! Let the kids know you will keep the treats in a safe place and they can have them after Halloween. It will give you a chance to check all the candy before the kids get to it.
- Hard candy – not advisable. These can potentially fracture you or your child’s teeth. Even keeping it in your mouth for a prolonged period until it melts will promote tooth decay.
- Having candy treats after meals is best as your saliva flow will help wash out some of the sugary substance in your mouth. But do not include them for your kids lunches as they may not have the time or patience to brush their teeth in school. They might not even have their actual lunch!
- Most important is daily homecare including brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing, and possibly using mouthwash.
