Happy Halloween!!!

It’s that time again!! Halloween!!

And all I can think of is OUCH!! Dental Decay! Caries! Pain!

But there is light at the end of this tunnel.. BRUSH and FLOSS to help prevent dental decay.

Few tips for everyone….

  1. Do not let your kids eat all those treats in one shot! Let the kids know you will keep the treats in a safe place and they can have them after Halloween. It will give you a chance to check all the candy before the kids get to it.
  2. Hard candy – not advisable. These can potentially fracture you or your child’s teeth. Even keeping it in your mouth for a prolonged period until it melts will promote tooth decay.
  3. Having candy treats after meals is best as your saliva flow will help wash out some of the sugary substance in your mouth.  But do not include them for your kids lunches as they may not have the time or patience to brush their teeth in school. They might not even have their actual lunch!
  4. Most important is daily homecare including brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing, and possibly using mouthwash.

Talk to your dental hygienist for more tips!

Happy Halloween Folks!

Money where your mouth is. Marketplace.

Dental controversy.

Dentist

Market place recently broadcast an episode MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS. This has become quite a controversial discussion. They took hidden cameras to several dentists across Toronto and Vancouver. Dentists have several different treatment options with different pricing.

Remember dentistry is based on interpretation. It is also based on experience. Some dentists will take the safe route. Treatment can also be based on where they have been trained. Not all dentist are scammers. Keep in mind that some dentists might have had similar diagnosis as UofT dentist but it’s unfortunate that this was not shown.

When you go to any professional whether its your dentist, doctor, chiropractor or any healthcare professional you must ask questions and possibly get a second opinion.

Please feel free to share your thoughts… I’d like to hear your experiences …….

Remembering those we have lost…. September 11th

It’s been 11 years since the terror attacks on New York City’s twin towers, Pentagon. About 3000 people had died when the planes crashed. Every year in NYC, bells ring at the fire station at 9:59 am to remember the victims.

I would like to take a few moments to the victims and their families.

Something to look at when you want to take better pictures….

Photofocus (old site)

This is going to be another of my controversial posts (what else is new?) I am posting something I usually only share with the photographers I personally mentor – but I’m starting to get enough email about this subject that I think it deserves to be posted in the open.

As an old warhorse who’s been around this game for a while, I have perspective and experience that newbies don’t and can’t have. I’ve seen it all and done it all. I have found some things that have really helped me grow as a photographer (and a person) and shared many of them here. But nothing helped as much as what I am about to share with you.

First off, it doesn’t require you to buy any gear, attend any class, read a book, watch a webinar, purchase a video tutorial, sign up for a workshop or visit a photo…
